Your Holiday Claims has received reports of an outbreak of illness at the Grand Oasis Cancun in Mexico. A holidaymaker who stayed at this hotel has recently contacted Your Holiday Claims seeking to pursue a claim for compensation after falling ill during their stay.
This follows a variety of reviews on Tripadvisor about the hotel, warning of the poor hygiene standards and rundown facilities at the hotel. Complaints have been made about a number of issues at the hotel, including poor food hygiene, outdated rooms and even flooding.
One holidaymaker who fell ill whilst visiting the hotel posted about the experience on Tripadvisor saying, “I had a severe case of food poisoning from the food at this resort (it was the only food I ate on my trip).
“I sat in my room puking for hours and then called the doctor from my room. The man at the front desk simply laughed at me and hung up. I tried calling a second time and they told me 20 minutes. I waited 40 minutes and no doctor came so I called a third time.
“Eventually they told me that I had to dial a different number. After being in hospital for about 2 days I was finally released the day that I was supposed to check out”.
Others have described the food served as being “barely edible” whilst others have experienced flooded rooms during their stay, with one guest stating, “The first night it rained and we woke up with water all over the floor under my bed”.
