Varadero victims reveal illness issues at Hotel Ocean Vista Azul

YHC’s holiday illness specialists are currently investigating reports that have been made by former guests of the Hotel Ocean Vista Azul, which suggest that hygiene issues and illness outbreaks are present at the resort.

Reports left by holidaymakers on hotel reviewing website TripAdvisor portray the details of these worrying claims.

One distressed poster who stayed at the Cuban hotel in May 2017 revealed:

“My husband was sick for 3 of the days there due to some food that he ate. The rest of us were not feeling the best. Food was below expectations due to the lack of cleanliness and flies everywhere.

“The beaches are what brought us back to Cuba, however we will not be visiting again due to the risk of being sick. This was our 3rd visit to Cuba, and unfortunately first time experiencing sickness due to food quality”.

Furthermore, another former guest claims they contracted salmonella during their April 2017 stay.

She claimed:

“For the majority of the trip, we spent it ‘celebrating’ food poisoning in our room and my friend even got an IV from the Varadero International Medical Clinic. (We just received one medical test result back today, positive for salmonella poisoning; pending on results for other bacterial and parasite infections).

“The onset came during the second night we were there. We had only consumed food from the resort – at the buffet and at the Italian Restaurant, LIMONCELLO”.

Further reports by holidaymakers also reveal that the hotel buffet was “disgustingly dirty” and that flies “took up residence” on most tables in the resorts restaurants.
