Multiple former guests of the three star resort have recently taken to TripAdvisor, to reveal how their holiday had been marred by both illness and poor hygienic standards.
One of these distressed holidaymakers who labelled the Sandy Beach Resort “2 star at best”, commented:
“Spent ten days here from the 21st August to 31st August. Family of four.
“My wife and I fell ill on the fourth day with sickness and diarrhoea, my five year old daughter then fell ill and spent the night in hospital two days later.
“We travelled to the hospital in an ambulance with a mother and her two young boys, it appears that a lot of guests were falling ill.
“The food although plentiful was rather bland with the cooked dishes only warm”.
In addition to this, the hygiene standards at the Sandy Beach Resort have also been criticised by another former guest of the Thomas Cook promoted hotel, who claimed:
“This place may have once been great. Maybe. Sadly though, it isn’t now very good.
“Once a 4 star resort, it’s officially 3 now, but I’d suggest 2/3…Health and safety and maintenance aren’t taken very seriously here.
“Some of the issues we encountered here included; faulty air conditioning, dirty and dangerous old ‘luxury’ showers (see photo) Legionella anyone? Mouldy mattresses and walls.
“Wasps, flies and ants are also a significant issue here. Wasps are an Island wide problem in September as the fruit ripens but are unpleasant when you would prefer to eat outside.
“Whilst I’m not averted too nature, I don’t want flies crawling over the food in the buffet”.
