Recent guests of the Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun complain of “food poisoning” outbreak

Our travel law team have been investigating into outbreaks of illness in multiple worldwide all-inclusive resorts, and have recently found some disturbing reviews which have been made by former guests of the Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun.
A number of these disgruntled guests have commented on a recent illness outbreak at the five star resort on website TripAdvisor, including one November 2017 visitor who disclosed:
“[We] loved being able to watch the birds and listen to the surf which was fortunate since on my second day I became violently ill.
“15-hours and $800 later [I] had to call the Dr. Thank goodness for health coverage.
“12-hours [later] I was able to leave the room [then] my husband got sick! Fortunately he was back up and running 12-hours later.
“The only reason I am giving this [resort] a 3 star review is because the staff is hardworking, wonderful, helpful and always smiling but we will not be returning to Mexico”.
Furthermore, additional holidaymakers have also warned others of the Virgin Holidays promoted hotel, such as another poster who revealed:
“My husband [got] incredibly ill the day before we left from we believe to be the chicken he ate from the grill by the pool.
“That was the only thing that he had different from me. They bring the chicken out pretty early in the morning and it must not be kept chilled very well.
“I have never seen him so sick in my life and it lasted 2 days. I heard of someone else who got so sick from food poisoning that they had to get a shot (injection) while there.
“We have been coming to the Riviera Maya for years and never had this problem anywhere else. So needless to say I would not return to this resort again.
“They consider this a 5 star and I would certainly not rate them this high”.
