A bride and groom who invited 36 guests to join them for their special day at the Lindos Princess Beach Hotel had their holiday ruined due to half the guests falling ill with symptoms of sickness and diarrhoea. Many of the guests were confined to their rooms and unable to attend the wedding ceremony.
Speaking on behalf of the wedding guests, the brides stepsister said on TripAdvisor: â36 of us travelled out for my stepsisters wedding and 35 had it, the only one who didnt was a 6 month old. The others who followed a week later all got the mystery bug too which the hotel and Thomas Cook seemed to be hiding from everyone.
âOn arrival we had a rep get on the coach to tell us he wouldnt be joining us nor was there a rep at the hotel to greet us. Our journey back to the airport we had no rep either only angry irritated Thomas Cook reps at the airport.
âThe night we arrived we arrived two hours late after a two hour delayed flight, on our arrival at the all inclusive Lindos Princess, we couldnt get a drink or food anywhere. Travelling with three children in the party, I found this terrible as all were hungry and in need of a drink but nothing.
On unpacking toiletries the bathroom had pubic hair and dried skin which stayed there until the day we left (2 weeks later)
âOn the 3rd day, my husband became ill with sickness and diarrhoea followed by my 4 year old daughter then myself which really ruined my stepsisters big day as half of the wedding party were either too ill to attend or had to leave during the ceremony. We were advised about a doctor via other holidaymakers not Thomas Cook or hotel and a friend was given an anti-sickness injection. The doctor did not wash his hands then moved straight onto his next patient.
âThe entertainment was the same and as for the food, someone had been sick in the restaurant and the waiter mopped it up using a towel and his foot, no disinfectant was used and hand sanitisers were only available a week after the bug outbreak and by day 9 some had either been taken down or were empty.
âThe beakers around the pool bar are poured into a sink at about 50 at a time and rinsed, no cloths or soap touched them, the cleaners in the toilet cleaned a toilet then wiped the sink using the same cloth.
âThe Thomas Cook rep totally contradicted herself when asked why no reps had been in with a reply of âI have been here all weekâ then 5 minutes later stated âit was her first time at the hotel and She was only covering for a sick colleagueâ total cover up from TC and the hotel. Wed say 80% of the hotel were too busy being sick to enjoy any kind of holiday! As for my stepsister, her wedding day was totally ruined.
Another British holidaymaker whose holiday was ruined stated that around 90 per cent of guests during his stay at the Lindos Princess Hotel were also ill throughout the duration of his stay. On TripAdvisor the man complained: âAfter speaking to others at the hotel around 90 per cent of guests were ill and the hotel offered no communication or assistance on the matter. We couldnt even take food to the room to assist those that couldnt get out of bed. It was a shame as otherwise it would have been an enjoyable place to stay but due to half are party being ill I couldnt wait to leave!
Commenting on the recent complaints of illness made by British holidaymakers, Tracy Stansfield, an experienced solicitor at Your Holiday Claims said: âMy deepest sympathies go out to all those that have fallen ill during their stay here, especially the newly-wed couple and the guests who travelled to the Lindos Princess Beach Hotel to celebrate their special day with them.
âNo one should have their hard earned holiday or wedding ceremony ruined due to contracting a holiday illness and I hope they have now all made a full recovery.
