If you have recently stayed at the Stil Victoria Playa in Menorca and suffered symptoms of gastric illness, you may be contacted directly by tour operator, Thomson (now TUI), on your return home to the UK.

“I have been speaking with a number of holidaymakers and I am being told that Thomson are pro-actively ringing their customers and making offers in respect of holidays spoilt by illness.

“Whilst I give credit to Thomson for acknowledging the problems at the Stil Victoria Playa, I would warn holidaymakers not to accept any offer without first taking legal advice.

“The offers I have been told about are far too low and totally undercompensate those adults and children for their illnesses, their lost holiday and loss of holiday enjoyment.  Thomson are trying their best to buy off potential claims as quickly as possible and this is simply not right.

“Holidaymakers who have only just returned from holiday may not be fully recovered and it is impossible for Thomson to properly consider what an individuals claim is worth.  Even in cases where a person may be fully recovered, from what I am hearing, the claims are not being assessed properly.

“If anyone has been ill and not yet been contacted by Thomson, contact us now for advice. If you have been contacted, do not accept any offer until you have taken legal advice and, even if you have accepted an offer and received a cheque, do not bank it until you have spoken to either myself of one of my team of travel law solicitors.

“We will be happy to talk to you about your experience at the Stil Victoria Playa, discuss your illness and the impact it had on your holiday and we will advise you on the level of holiday illness compensation you should be entitled to receive.”
