A British Family whose holiday was ruined whilst staying at the Esra Hotel told us:

“The medical centre itself was overloaded with Hotel Esra guests. It was as if we were all taken on an unwanted excursion. There were 5 floors in the clinic, at least two were overrun with fellow Esra victims. The staff themselves seemed overworked and tired, not surprising as when I got talking to another victim at the centre, he explained that he had also been there the previous evening and it was just as chaotic. Again many of them were Esra victims”.

“Many people appear to have been affected and we are concerned to note that the cause of illness has still yet to be resolved.

“We fear that until a full investigation has been carried out matters will remain unresolved and we urge anyone that is staying at the Esra Hotel to seek medical attention straight away if they appear to be unwell and to not just put it down to the change in climate or change in diet. A lot of people are said to have contracted Salmonella and Cryptosporidium. Both illnesses can be contracted as result of poor food and hygiene standards, although Cryptosporidium is often linked to swimming pool water.

“I hope that a full investigation will be carried out to identify the cases of illness and that both the tour operator and hotel management staff will do everything in their power to put a stop to this and prevent any further illnesses from re-occurring in the immediate future.
