Sickness and poor hygiene on board the TUI Discovery
Despite only becoming part of the TUI brand in summer 2016, the TUI Discovery has faced wave after wave of sickness complaints with guests who sailed as recently as December 2016 warning of poor hygiene practices.
An angry Twitter user bluntly comments, ânever again Thomson cruise #TUIdiscovery Dont do it 2 days sick food dreadful.â
Similarly disparaging reports can be found on review site Cruise Critic as passengers voice their concerns after being served undercooked chicken and ânot very warmâ food.
Enforcement of hand gel use is also reported as lax with further concerns raised regarding the cleaning of tables.
According to one holidaymaker, âstaff [are] going from table to table wiping them and chairs using the same cloth (never saw any bacterial sprays used) not aware whether said cloths changed or washed.â
Reports of guests falling ill and receiving medical treatment for chest infections, thought to be caused by malfunctioning air conditioning, can also be found online.

Experienced solicitor Tracy Stansfield secured a staggering total compensation payout of £42,500 for 26 holidaymakers after repeat outbreaks of norovirus left them suffering severe gastric symptoms on board Fred Olsens Boudicca liner.
Commenting on the reports of illness on board TUI Discovery, Tracy said: âIt appears that there are a number of issues which require immediate attention on board this ship.
âTour operators have a duty of care to ensure that guests receive only the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety. If they are lacking in this duty, then a claim for compensation can be made from right here in the UK.
