Guests blast hygiene standards at Club Mac Alcudia
Guests have commented through the review website TripAdvisor after witnessing poor food and hygiene standards at the Club Mac Alcudia resort, Majorca. Many have stated that food continues to appear undercooked and swimming pools are repeatedly infected with faeces.
One British holidaymaker commented: âNo clean bed sheets in 11 days until I went and asked why our room wasnt being cleaned and linen changed.
âFood was bland and undercooked which led to threadworm in our party of 11. And yes we used hand sanitizer every time so off to the chemist to buy treatments. Sickness was rife, even had one child throw up in my pancakes one morning after queuing 15 minutes.
âAsked about the bug to the First Choice rep and was told it was brought over from the UK. To cap it all 2 days we had poo in the pool. My little grandson also slipped in some poo in the mens toilets and he was covered in human poo.â
Other visitors who have returned in recent days have also commented that they suffered a âsickness bugâ. They have also reported suffering symptoms including stomach cramps and diarrhoea.
A visitor to the hotel from Belfast stated: âMyself, two kids, and mother in law all got this dreaded bug and we were room bound for a couple of days and definitely not fit for eating. We took the kids to the doctor they were so poorly.
âFound it surprising that the Thomas Cook rep didnt know anything about it however at the airport and on here, many people became infected.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented on the latest developments: âAt this time numerous holidaymakers have contacted us after falling ill at the Club Mac Alcudia.
âHolidaymakers contracting threadworms does raise further problems at the resort. Â Threadworms are a type of roundworm which can enter the body when a person eats food or drinks water that contains threadworm eggs. Threadworms can also be transmitted from person to person. In addition, if toilets are not cleaned properly, people can come into contact with threadworm eggs which may have been deposited there by an infected person.
âIt is worrying to read the further reports of poor hygiene and faeces contaminating the hotels swimming pools.
