At Your Holiday Claims we are currently receiving numerous enquiries from British holidaymakers who have fallen ill on holiday at the Steigenberger Aqua Magic in Hurghada, Egypt.
Visitors reported suffering symptoms including sickness and diarrhoea during their stay and witnessing excrement in the hotels swimming pools. Others have reported being served undercooked food within restaurants.
Holidaymakers have commented on their experiences at the Steigenberger Aqua Magic through the hotel review website TripAdvisor.
One hotel guest commented: “The second day of our holiday I was the first member of the family to fall ill with a very upset stomach.
“Over the next few days every single member of our party of seven fell ill. We purchased medication several times from the hotel chemist.
“This medication was useless. During the second week three members of the family were taken to hospital, kept there all day on a drip, one even kept in overnight.
“We saw a foam like scum floating on the top of the Lazy River, it was truly disgusting. Thus proving what we suspected, these pools were never cleaned, apart from a pool attendant walking around occasionally with a net.
“The area around the pools and sunbeds were never cleaned, they were dirty all the time we were there. The toilet in reception was smelly and dirty, one even had excrement on the wall.”
