There have been more reports of illness on TripAdvisor at the Lindos Imperial.
Many holidaymakers are upset about their experiences at this hotel stating âthe hotel refuse to acknowledge the problem as their issueâ and that the hotel was not âpreventing the infection from spreading,â as they were using the same mops for each room.
Over the past few days four more families have complained of falling ill at this hotel suffering from severe stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea.
One family said they fell ill on their second day and the illness lasted until they returned to the UK.
Another family staying at the hotel said that they also became ill on the second day of their stay and visited the doctor as their symptoms were so severe. After seeing the doctor they paid 150 Euros and were prescribed antibiotics. The family noted that the swimming pool was âcloudy and dirtyâ and the restaurant was like the âworst cafeteria you have ever visited.â
A family of four also commented on their stay, advising that they missed their flight home due to illness. They visited the on-site doctor, who gave them all two injections. Unfortunately the familys symptoms persisted and they have visited their GP three times since returning to the UK.
A lady who travelled with her son and husband also commented on the âbugâ advising that both father and son started with âdiarrhoea and vomitingâ within a few days of arriving. She said that she went to reception to see the pharmacist and was âshockedâ to see at least â40 other guests there for the same reason.â
They were given hydration fluids but their conditions worsened. The doctor was called and he is quoted as saying that he âbelieved the sickness to be caused by a bacteria probably in the drinking water.â The next day she noted that âtwo restaurants were closed and nine staff members sick.â
Due to the levels of illness at the hotel, the family decided to move to a self-catering property to get away from the âbug.â They have commented that their âwhole experience was spoilt, my son took 8 days to recover.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, said: âWe are currently dealing with many British holidaymakers who have fallen ill at the Lindos Imperial and the reports we are reading are extremely worrying.â
âI understand that the tour operators and hotel management are carrying out investigations into the cause of the illness outbreak and I hope that full and proper hygiene procedures are now in place to prevent any further spread of infection.â
