An outbreak of sickness is reported to have stuck down tens of holidaymakers at five star Hotel Riu Palace Pacifico in Mexico.

Several parties of holidaymakers are believed to have fallen ill at the resort during alleged outbreaks of illness throughout 2016.

Five star Riu Palace Pacifico, promoted as part of Thomsons luxury a la carte range, promises the finer things in life to its premium paying guests, including “whirlpool baths and gourmet dining”

Yet for many guests, stays at the resort has been far from luxurious and hopes of fun filled holidays have been battered by bouts of sickness and diarrhoea.

A recent hotel guest likened his stay at the resort to gruesome horror “The Exorcist” after he and his wife suffered several days of severe sickness. The holidaymaker wrote on TripAdvisor:

“I got as sick as I’ve ever been….think the exorcist meets the wedding party on the movie Bridesmaids. I had a high fever and then ached for the next 36 hours.

“We talked to a group of 4 of which all 4 got sick, a group of 9 in which 8 got sick and group of 20 where 15 got sick. Don’t like those odds!”

Others claim they also fell foul of the alleged sick bug, including a party of 14 holidaymakers who warned “every one of us was sick” following poor quality food served at the five star all-inclusive.
