Hygiene criticised on board the Fred Olsen Braemar
- Â Captain announces outbreak of norovirus on the ship
- Follows an outbreak which affected 300 passengers on Fred Olsens Balmoral cruise ship
- Passengers turn to Your Holiday Claims for help to claim compensation
British holidaymakers have taken to Cruise Critic to criticise the hygiene standards on board the Fred Olsen Braemar cruise ship.
This comes after one passenger contacted Your Holiday Claims for help to make a claim for compensation after they were left suffering symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea on the ship.
In addition to this, other holidaymakers have voiced their anger by posting on the website TripAdvisor, with one recent passenger commenting:
âWhere Braemar went wrong for us was norovirus. A few days before the end of the cruise, the captain announced an outbreak. Wed not experienced norovirus before and were unprepared for how its tackled.
âI guess it was left to us to find out more about norovirus if we wanted; all that the captain told us was to step up our use of the sanitising fluid and wash hands before eating, also that the self-service buffets at breakfast and lunch would become waiter service only.
âIt wasnt that I thought Fred Olsen would have hushed anything up, but I wanted to notify the authorities that we werent impressed with the standard of cleanliness of some of the glassware, cutlery and plates given to us, with grubbiness and finger marks galore.
âAlso, it concerned me that whereas some foods were covered up, most werent, particularly bread. Of all the foodstuffs on display, bread has probably been handled and touched by any number of people before it reaches your handsâ.
Comments from our holiday illness solicitor
âIt is worrying that we are yet again hearing of illness among guests on another of Fred Olsens ships.
âWhen there is illness on a cruise ship it has the potential to spread very quickly, so it is of the utmost importance that cruise operators investigate any and all outbreaks to discover what they can prevent future outbreaks.
âIf you have been affected by illness on the Braemar or while on a holiday cruise I would encourage you to give us a call as soon as possible to discuss making a claimâ.
