The expert YHC food poisoning on holiday solicitors have helped a holidaymaker receive thousands in compensation after her young daughter fell severely ill with salmonella in Turkey.
Hotel name: Marmaris Palace Hotel
Date of travel: July 2014
Nature of illness: salmonella gastroenteritis
Compensation awarded: £5,350
What happened at Marmaris Palace Hotel?
Our client, who was just 5 years old at the time of her ruined holiday, fell abruptly ill with the classic symptoms of gastric illness days into her family getaway at the Thomas Cook promoted resort. Our clients mother comments that at its peak, vomiting would occur every 30 minutes.
Unfortunately, our client remained unwell for the rest of her time in Turkey and continued to experience repeat illness symptoms on her return to the UK.
After seeking medical treatment from her own GP, a stool sample was provided which tested positive for the salmonella bacterium.
However, a long recovery still lay in store for our client as she continued to experience episodes of gastric distress months after her ruined holiday and was consequently diagnosed with post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome.
Speaking to the YHC salmonella compensation experts, our clients mother is certain that her daughters illness was the result of hygiene failings at the Marmaris Palace Hotel. She comments that the uncovered food on offer would be left for prolonged periods of time at room temperature and appeared to be recycled, served up on more than one occasion.
Hotel staff were also observed transferring food without wearing protective clothing and she alleges to have witnessed sweat from a staff member drip into the prepared food.
She further states that it soon became obvious that other guests were also suffering in the illness outbreak with diarrhoea said to have been visible in the hotels public toilets.
YHC help salmonella stricken child receive £5,350 in compensation
YHC Litigation Executive, Darren Bibby was able to negotiate a successful pay out of over £5,000 for the salmonella stricken child.
This amount was awarded with Thomas Cook admitting liability.
Commenting on the case, Darren said: âI am absolutely delighted that I was able to help our client claim the compensation she rightfully deserved after contracting salmonella at the Marmaris Palace Hotel.
âIn our experience, food poisoning infections, such as salmonella, are often the result of breakdowns in food or pool hygiene standards within package holiday hotels. For this reason, I would always advise anyone who is unfortunate enough to fall ill abroad to seek medical attention, report their illness and to document any apparent hygiene failings.â
