Family awarded almost £7,000 for first holiday nightmare

A family from Aberdeen has received £6,900 in compensation after an outbreak of illness at the Holiday Village left them confined to their hotel rooms.

Mr and Mrs Middleton booked their long awaited holiday to Portugal to celebrate the birth of their new baby girl, Emily along with their two sons.

This would be their first family holiday together and they couldn’t wait to spend some quality time together abroad.

“We decided to treat ourselves to a week in the sun with our new baby girl and two sons”, Mrs Middleton said.

But only a matter of days into their stay, Emily became unwell, suffering severe symptoms of gastric illness.

Mr Middleton was also struck down with illness and had to be confined to their hotel room, whilst Mrs Middleton attended to their care and looked after their two sons.

“The first two days of our holiday were fine, the remaining five were a nightmare.

“When we came back to the UK, I was taken ill and our baby girl was still extremely poorly.

“The fact there were so many people ill within the hotel indicates that something went very wrong” she added.

Upon their return to the UK, Emily remained unwell and had to receive medical treatment from their local GP.

Despite complaints to the holiday representative and the tour operator First Choice, very little action was taken.

Mrs Middleton then decided to contact the experts at Your Holiday Claims for help to make a claim against First Choice. With our help, Mrs Middleton and her family were able to receive £6,900 in compensation.
