A Liverpool family of 4 have successfully received over £10,000 in damages following a ruined holiday in Egypt.
Hotel name: Holiday Village Red Sea, Sharm el Sheikh
Date of travel: May 2015
Nature of illness: Gastric illness
Compensation awarded: £10,950
What happened at Holiday Village Red Sea?
The Turners – mother Amanda, father Neil and 2 boys Bobby and Alfie – fell victims to an alleged sickness outbreak just days into their eagerly anticipated stay at Holiday Village Red Sea.
Experiencing the debilitating symptoms of sickness, diarrhoea and stomach cramps, the family claim that their hard-earned holiday was effectively “ruined” as they were unable to take part in any of the activities they had been looking forward to.
Speaking to the experienced claims experts at Your Holiday Claims, the Turners are in little doubt that their illness was the result of poor hygiene standards at the resort. Mother Amanda lists several alarming hygiene failings including:
- Food was left uncovered
- Buffet food was left for prolonged periods of time with new supplies added to existing
- Cutlery and crockery did not appear clean
- Birds and flies were seen in and around dining areas and food
- The swimming pool water did not appear clear with smells emanating from the pool
How the specialist claims team at Your Holiday Claims won this case
Tracy Stansfield, holiday village claims expert at Your Holiday Claims was the Turner’s first choice for legal representation.
With Tracy on their side, the stricken quartet received a total compensation pay out of £10,950 from tour operator Thomson.
Commenting on the case, Tracy said: “I am delighted that I was able to help the Turners.
“Unfortunately, the Turner’s experience at the Holiday Village Red Sea is by no means an isolated incidence. Here, at Your Holiday Claims, we have represented and continue to represent tens of holidaymakers who have suffered from illness during stays at the resort, including holidaymakers who have been diagnosed with confirmed cases of cryptosporidium – a water borne parasite.
“I would always advise anyone who is struck by illness abroad to seek medical attention and report your symptoms to your tour operator.”
