Your Holiday Claims have helped a holidaymaker from Warwickshire claim £7,500 in holiday illness compensation after a severe bout of gastroenteritis left him battling long term illness.

Our client and his wife travelled to Sharm El Sheikh in June 2013 for a 9 night all-inclusive stay at the Royal Albatross Moderna, provided by tour operator Thomas Cook.

The couple had visited Sharm El Sheikh a number of times and looked forward to a luxury stay at Royal Albatross Moderna to celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary in the Egyptian sunshine.

Upon arrival, our client and his wife were disappointed to find that standards of hygiene were noticeably poor and recalled their concern at leftover food items being recycled for the next day.

In fact just five days after the arrival at the resort our client began to experience symptoms of gastroenteritis, a severe gastric condition which continued to plague his long term health.

The first indicators of illness were abdominal cramps and sickness. These were followed quickly in the coming days by profuse diarrhoea which left our client confined to his room.

On the advice of the Thomas Cook representative, the wife of our client was directed to the onsite Pharmacy where she was provided with antibiotics to remedy her husbands condition.

Our client and his wife returned from their ill-fated stay in Sharm El Sheikh four days later but unfortunately this was not the end of our clients episode of poor health.

In the coming days our client was to endure almost 200 separate bouts of diarrhoea and has continued to suffer since although his symptoms are slowly improving.
