Your Holiday Claims has recently helped a British holidaymaker to recover £5,000 in compensation after falling ill during their stay at the Coral Sea Resort in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
The claimant travelled to the Coral Sea Resort for a week long holiday in September 2012 after booking through the tour operator Thomson. However, her week away was ruined when she fell ill, suffering from symptoms including sickness, diarrhoea and severe stomach cramps.
Our client has confirmed that there were various issues with the food and hygiene standards at the hotel, including birds landing on food service areas around food that was at times uncovered. Much of the food served at the hotel also appeared to have been reheated and was often found to be inedible.
After falling ill on the third day of her holiday our client was forced to seek medical attention during her stay at the Coral Sea Resort and it was confirmed by a doctor on her return home that she was suffering from a gastric illness.
The persistence of the symptoms resulted in numerous visits to her GP and after contacting her tour operator and receiving no response, she turned to Your Holiday Claims for help in pursuing a claim for compensation.
Anne Thomson successfully claims £5,000 in compensation
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, guided her through the process, eventually settling the claim, gaining the client £5,000 in compensation.
Our client said of the case, âThe conditions in many of the restaurants was really poor and the swimming pool never seemed to be properly cleaned.
âIt was a horrible experience having a holiday ruined in that way; Id like to thank Anne for the support she gave in helping me settle this claimâ.
Anne Thomson, a holiday illness expert at Your Holiday Claims with over 25 years experience in managing claims for compensation relating to holiday illness and accidents stated, âWe are always concerned when we hear of a person suffering from any form of gastric illness whilst on holiday.
âIn this case there was a clear flaw in the hygiene standards at the hotel, which has severely affected our client by not only ruining a holiday but also resulting in her suffering an incredibly unpleasant illness such as this.
âWe would hope that tour operators would take note of the issues raised by holidaymakers who have fallen ill whilst staying at any hotel they promote and they should carry out a full and proper investigation into the hygiene standards at hotels such as the Coral Sea Resort in Sharm El Sheikhâ.
