£1,800 compensation success for Burnley man bitten by parasites in Spain

What happened at Club Mac Alcudia?

Adam Durkin (49) along with his wife and daughter, travelled to the popular Club Mac Alcudia complex hoping to enjoy the Spanish sun.

Unfortunately, after becoming exposed to an unknown parasite, sun was the last thing on Adam’s holiday itinerary.

Speaking to the experienced solicitors at YHC, Adam describes how when he went to switch the air conditioning unit on for the first time on day 6 of their holiday material and dust was blown out from the unit, covering him.

The following day, Adam awoke to find that raised pink lumps were present on his head, shoulders and both his upper and lower limbs. The lumps were not only unsightly but incredibly itchy and led to him see the resort doctor no less than 3 times.

Despite being prescribed antibiotics, injections and cream, the holidaymakers symptoms continued on his return home where he sought yet further medical treatment from his own GP.

Astonishingly, only after 7 months did Adam’s symptoms begin to ease, however he is still left with slight scarring on his hands as a result of his ordeal.

He details that he also lost a stone in weight, likely as a result of the medication he was placed on to treat his symptoms.
