Stranded holidaymakers in Sharm El Sheikh are currently reporting their outrage at having to stay at âdisgustingâ Continental Plaza Beach Resort whilst they wait desperately for return flights home to the UK.
Thousands of holidaymakers are reported to be stranded in Sharm El Sheikh amidst the recent airport crisis, with many travellers being put up in alternative accommodation by their tour operators whilst they wait to return home.
Customers of Monarch are reported to be outraged by the âshockingâ standard of temporary accommodation provided at Continental Plaza Beach Resort and report suffering illness due to substandard hygiene and infestation.
One unfortunate holidaymaker told the Daily Mirror: âIt really is filthy. There are flies all over the food in the restaurant. Even one of the reps said to me, I wouldnt eat the food if I were you.
“My daughter has bites all over her, we think its bed bugs.â
A further holidaymaker reported on review website TripAdvisor: âThis is the most disgusting hotel that I have stayed in.
âWe were put up here by Monarch because this was the only place with so many empty rooms, which in itself tells its own story.â
Another suffering guest branded the hotel a âdeath trapâ after falling ill at the resort and warned prospective hotel guests that they risked âE-Coli, Salmonella and Listeriaâ by booking the resort.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âThe current situation in Sharm El Sheikh is extremely concerning and I am very disappointed to hear reports that holidaymakers have been subjected to such poor standards whilst they wait to return home.
âI would encourage any holidaymakers who have been affected by illness whilst staying at Cosmopolitan Plaza Beach Resort in Sharm El Sheikh to seek expert legal advice as they may be able to pursue a claim for compensation. â
