The Cuban Starfish Cayo Santa Maria resort has been slammed by a number of its recent guests, who claim that the five-star hotel is riddled with gastric illness.

This comes following the discovery of online reviews which have been made on the website TripAdvisor, as visitors of the First Choice promoted resort have felt the need to display their post-holiday opinions.

In one of these reviews, an August 2017 guest of the Starfish Cayo Santa Maria posted:

“This hotel is the complete pits! The food will likely put you in hospital with food poisoning. It put myself and six others in hospital on intravenous medication.

“The canteen is dirty and fly ridden.

“Myself and my 2 children were very unwell for the duration of our holiday. Do not waste your hard earned money on this complete hellhole”.

In addition to this, it unfortunately appears that this holidaymaker is not the only one to have recently fallen ill during their stay at the five-star hotel, as another poster commented:

“Food hygiene is very poor, its left uncovered in high temperatures, approximately 10 people out of the group I arrived with were very ill and 5 had to go to hospital.

“Im glad I took this holiday but I doubt I will be returning”.
