A Willenhall family of 4 have turned to the legal experts at YourHolidayClaims for help to claim compensation after their £5,000 Cuban holiday was ruined by severe sickness.
The Woodcock party jetted off to the five-star a la carte Iberostar Ensenachos in Cayo Santa Maria at the end of June 2017, hoping to enjoy the facilities on offer.
Unfortunately, the quartets plans were soon put on hold as one by one, all 4 members of the Woodcock family were struck by illness symptoms including nausea, diarrhoea and stomach cramps.
Speaking to the claims experts at YHC, father Adrian Woodcock is in no doubt that his familys illness was the result of âdireâ hygiene standards at the Thomson promoted resort. He claims to have witnessed an alarming catalogue of hygiene errors such as:
- Food appeared to be undercooked
- Hot food seemed lukewarm
- Prepared food would be left uncovered with flies and cockroaches seen in the main buffet
- Meat would not be refrigerated before cooking
- Birds were seen eating from the food in the pool and beach bars
âMy 26-year-old son lost over a stone as a result of this illness,â Adrian adds.
âThe food standards were utterly dire â you could see that milk had been left out and had actually curdled; raw meat was handled with the same utensils as cooked meat, there was no hand sanitizer and barely a clean table.
âIn our room, you could even see what looked to be sick sprayed up a wall that had not been cleaned properly from the previous occupants.
âIn my opinion, the swimming pool also needs to be urgently addressed â there were holes in the pools floor and I fear that this could lead to a serious injury, especially where children are involved.
âWe reported all our concerns and illness to the rep but I feel that we were not listened to and simply disregarded as âmoaning Britishâ.
âNone of my family have ever complained before but I feel that I must warn others of standards at this resort.
âWhilst we were on holiday, we became aware that others were also ill and even learned that a 4-year old was diagnosed with salmonella.
âSince returning to the UK, we have continued to suffer from repeat illness symptoms.â
Despite contacting tour operator Thomson on more than one occasion since their return home, Mr Woodcock feel that his complaints have been âblatantly ignored.â
Undeterred, the sickness stricken quartet have resolved to pursue a no win no fee claim for sickness in Cuba with the specialist claims solicitors at YourHolidayClaims.
Danielle Burnie, Litigation Executive in charge of the groups claim commented: âI am concerned to learn of the Woodcock familys holiday experience.
âIn our experience, illness outbreaks within package holiday hotels are frequently the result of breakdowns in food or pool hygiene. I sincerely hope that the hotel and tour operators work together in order to identify the cause or causes of illness.
âFalling sick on holiday can not only ruin a much-anticipated trip but can also lead to lasting complications if any number of post-infective conditions occur. For this reason, I would always advise that you report your illness in resort, seek medical attention and document any hygiene failings. Exchanging contact details with other afflicted guests can also prove beneficial should you wish to make a claim for compensation on your return.â
