“Nice view, that’s it”: Servatur Puerto Azul Hotel guests critical of the resorts food hygiene standards

  • Many guests reveal they have been hit by the “stomach bug”
  • “Rotten” food in the hotel restaurant held responsible by some
  • It is not too late to make a claim for compensation if you have been hit by illness on holiday within the last three years!

YourHolidayClaims believes that many holidaymakers have recently had their holidays ruined by illness at the three star Servatur Puerto Azul Hotel in Gran Canaria.

This comes after our dedicated travel law team discovered multiple reports on the website TripAdvisor, which suggest that illness has recently been rife at the Thomas Cook promoted hotel.

In one of these reviews, an October 2017 guest of the three star resort revealed how that the hotel had gone downhill following their previous visit in 2013, before adding:

“The food…I had meatballs & pasta one night (I had only eaten/drank at the hotel all holiday) & about 2 hours later was violently ill.

“I was sick like I’ve never known before all night & spent the following day poorly in bed, I’m still [not] feeling right, I’ve hardly eaten a thing now for 3 days.

“I did report my illness to our rep who was lovely but at the end of the day would sooner say I had a stomach bug, all I know is I have not been that ill before”.

Furthermore, additional former guests of the Servatur Puerto Azul Hotel have also raised concerns over the resorts food hygiene. Another holidaymaker who recently visited the hotel with their family commented:

“We came here as a family, each year we do a family trip together, 2 kids a baby and 6 adults.

“The food was horrible and I’m a guy that would eat anything… Every dish was wrong to the point [where] I just stuck with fruit.

“I had some Spaghetti Bolognese one night and the next morning [was] spent on the toilet”.

Our legal specialists’ comments

“We believe that a number of recent holidays have unfortunately been ruined by gastric illness at the Servatur Puerto Azul Hotel.

“Holidaymakers who have been affected have done exactly the right thing by reporting their illness to the hotel management and tour operator, and I would advise anyone else who has fallen ill on holiday to do the same.

“If your highly anticipated package holiday has been blighted by sickness within the last three years, then our experts may be able to help you.
