We are assisting British holidaymakers who have returned from the Soviva hotel to successfully claim holiday illness compensation after their holiday was ruined due to the poor food and hygiene standards in this hotel.
A gentleman from Peacehaven who travelled to the Sovivia hotel in October 2013 said on Tripadvisor: âThis hotel can never been visited or monitored by Thomas cook or if they did, they must have been blind. The food is unsafe with some bad practises which resulted in many becoming ill, the rooms all had various faults, some dangerous some in poor state of repair and poor hygiene.
Most of the time when you went for a drink it was served in an old badly scratched picnic type beaker. To get service from staff you had to ensure you tipped well or forget it, you have to hunt for cutlery. The chairs at the buffet restaurant are falling apartâ
A gentleman and his two friends from Newcastle upon Tyne who also travelled to the Sovivia hotel in September 2013 said: âMy two friends and I stayed here from 14th â 22nd September 2013 and to be honest, we wish we hadnt bothered.
âA big problem with ants, flies and cleanliness.
âThe lager we were drinking was watered down and served in dirty glasses. Table clothes and cutlery was dirty.
âThe food was repetitive but constant problem with flies on our meals which has resulted in all 3 of us with stomach problems to this day.
âThe waiters were very pleasant only if they were tipped.
âMy property was also taken from the pool, when I asked where it was, all I got was a goose chace and still didnt get it back.
âThe only good bit of entertainment was the animation team and even that was average at its best.
âBut may we say, the cleaners worked really hard and supplied us with fresh bedding and towels every day.
âAll in all, we will never return to Tunisia again as its the filthiest most desperate place weve ever seen.
âWe came for a holiday and now we need another holiday after this. Thomas cook you NEED to take note: Too many guests = staff unable to copeâ.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims commented: âThe Soviva has experienced problems with holidaymakers suffering illness in past years and I am really concerned to hear that issues appear to have arisen again. Unfortunately, hygiene standards can lapse and, when they do, it is up to the relevant tour operators to ensure that problems are addressed and resolved as quickly as possible. âI would urge anyone who has been ill during their stay at this hotel to contact us on 0330 100 2851Â for help to pursue a claim for compensation against the tour operator they booked their holiday withâ.
