Sickness spreads at the ClubHotel Riu Oliva

Here at Your Holiday Claims we are hearing reports of guests suffering from a stomach bug returning from the ClubHotel Riu Oliva in Fuerteventura.

Guests at the hotel have taken to TripAdvisor to voice their disgust at the poor levels of food and hygiene within the resort. One guest, who travelled to the resort with his family, described his ordeal: “5 of our party of 7 fell sick for at least 24 hours.

“Upon reporting this to the rep she told me that we were the only people to have been sick at the resort, however upon speaking to other guests in the hotel it became a normality for either them to have suffered themselves or one of their party. This was not an isolated case.”

Another guest, from Bournemouth, who was at the resort with her partner and son commented, “My son became ill on our last night. All he ate that day was a beef burger, it had to be that.

“It was the sickest I have ever seen him, and was touch and go as to whether or not he would be able to fly home. I went to reception and asked for them to send a doctor, after a blank stare I was told to get a taxi to the nearest medical centre; this was not an option as he was too sick to get up.”

“In all-inclusive hotels such as this, undercooked or lukewarm food can cause serious illness. It is vital that the hotel management and tour operators ensure the safety of guests by maintaining high food and hygiene standards at all times.
