Holidaymakers continue to comment on the issues at the resort on website TripAdvisor, including this September 2017 visitor who revealed:
“I really don’t know how TUI can advertise this hotel as 5 … The main buffet restaurant was just like a canteen and there were flies everywhere.
“My husband became ill on the second day with severe diarrhoea. We went to the TUI rep on the fourth day as we had run out of medication and wondered if there was somewhere in the hotel we could get some.
“I’ve noticed the response from the hotel on here is that the bug lasts 24-48 hours, this was not the case for my husband! He was still ill when we got home and has had to have tests at our GP, which we are awaiting the results.
“My husband usually has an iron constitution and can eat anything so this is very unusual for him”.
In addition to this, another recent visitor of the Hotel Riu Touareg revealed that the resort is “not good in many aspects”, before adding:
“[I’ve] never been to a RIU hotel before so [I] can’t compare to others.
“Under cooked food, files on food, chefs looked to have no idea how to cook food or [were] just rushing to get things out for so many people, not to any high standard.
“[This] resulted in a lot of people having very bad diarrhoea including myself who had never had to use Imodium before this holiday, [I] had to use two boxes to save myself”.
