British holidaymakers have reported a widespread outbreak of sickness which has ruined stays at the Amara Island Bodrum Elite in Turkey.

Numerous guests have experienced symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea which have left them confined to their rooms and unable to eat.

Many have taken to TripAdvisor to express their frustration, complaining of poor food quality and hygiene standards.

One recent visitor commented: “All members of our party were sick at this hotel with projectile vomiting and diarrhoea.”

“This was not a 24 hour stomach upset. It lasted 4 days and left you feeling exhausted and supressed your appetite.”

“I saw guests from all nationalities being sick all over the complex and it was left or not cleaned properly.”

Another holidaymaker reported: “All 6 of us suffered food poisoning. We spent 5 days in our room with sickness and diarrhoea.”

“When we felt well enough we spoke to the Thomas Cook rep at the hotel and he advised us that he had reported the hotel the day before to Health and Safety as so many people had food poisoning.”
