British holidaymakers have described holidays as âtraumaticâ after outbreaks of illness at the Hotel Kanta in Tunisia.
Visitors to the hotel have reported contracting salmonella during their stay at the Thomas Cook promoted hotel. They have commented on the review website TripAdvisor saying: âWe were still ill when we came home so we went straight to the doctors to be tested and are awaiting results as he thinks we have salmonella too.â
Others have made complaints regarding the cleanliness of the hotels swimming pools, stating: âThe main pool was disgusting, full of floating bits.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented on the reports: âIt is always concerning to read reports of holidaymakers contracting salmonella.â
âSalmonella food poisoning is very nasty with symptoms such as sickness, diarrhoea, and stomach cramps. Eating food which has been undercooked or contaminated with bacteria can lead to guests contracting salmonella.â
âIt is vital that tour operators and hotel management ensure that high food and hygiene standards are implemented and maintained in order to prevent such outbreaks of illness occurring.â
âIf you have fallen ill at the Hotel Kanta, contact myself or a member of our holiday claims team for advice on all aspects of the claims process.â
