We are reading reports of Salmonella food poisoning among holidaymakers at the Hotel Palm Beach in Benidorm, Spain. Symptoms have included severe symptoms of sickness and diarrhoea.
Thomas Cook and Jet2 Holidays among others promote and sell the Hotel Palm Beach in Benidorm, and this 4-star resort offers a choice of dining facilities and several swimming pools.
One holidaymaker who returned from the hotel in July, 2013 said: âAfter 2 days at the hotel, a number of our group started becoming sick. Over the fortnight 12 out of 13 members of our group suffered some sort of illness.
“The majority of the issues occurred between day 3 and day 10 and it mainly consisted of sickness and diarrhoea. It was absolutely horrendous. My wife is still suffering from illness and we are currently waiting on test results from the GP back in the UK.
“It got so bad, we were fearful of feeding our own children the food in the place. We were not the only ones. During the first week, I lost count of the amount of people leaving the dining room with trays of food (mostly fruit) and taking them up to the rooms for people who were too ill to come down.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âSome of the reports we are hearing from holidaymakers returning from Palm Beach are shocking. Holidaymakers should never be exposed to food poisoning, and the tour operators should investigate fully to ensure nobody else falls ill at this hotel.â
