We are continuing to receive enquiries from holidaymakers who have fallen ill at the First Choice Holiday Village Algarve.
The first reports of illness and skin rashes were received in May and unfortunately they are continuing into June.
Some of the most common complaints have centred on the cleanliness of the pool and poor hygiene standards within the hotel’s restaurants.
British holidaymakers have used the hotel review website TripAdvisor to comment on the outbreak of illness at the Holiday Village Algarve.
A hotel guest from Somerset said: “Mouldy place mats, cleaning done with just a cloth and no liquid food just warm and bland, restaurant too small and everyone sat very close together. The pools are cold and dirty, tiles broken around the pool. The bathrooms in the rooms have mould spores and the grouting is very dirty.
“As there was a sickness bug going around, the hotel should have stepped up the hygiene.”
There are continuing reports of visitors suffering from skin rashes during their stay at the Holiday Village Algarve.
One holidaymaker commented: “I got a rash from the pools that was very sore. We all got the tummy bug and partner got a cold and flu.
“I never once saw the pools cleaned and it was clear that they hadn’t got enough chlorine in them.”
Another visitor to the hotel required medical attention due to the severity of the illness they suffered.
They said: “I woke up with horrendous stomach cramps. I was hot and cold and had diarrhoea and vomiting. I asked the rep about a doctor and was told that it would cost 100 euros to call him out plus any treatment.
“We didn’t feel human until the weekend. For the rest of the holiday we hardly had anything to eat.”
