âHygiene issuesâ at the Riu Palace Macao revealed by numerous holidaymakers
- âTummy bugâ apparently blights multiple visits to the Dominican hotel
- Some recent guests forced to seek medical attention on their return home
- This is the second time in less than a year that widespread stomach illness has been reported at this resort
The travel law specialists here at YourHolidayClaims are aware of a possible illness outbreak which has recently occurred at the Riu Palace Macao, Dominican Republic.
This comes after some former visitors of the five star resort commented on how their trip was ruined by sickness on TripAdvisor, such as one Manchester holidaymaker who posted:
â[I] recently returned from a 2 week holiday. [I] flew with TUI from Manchester.
âAfter the first day [I] suffered severe stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Obviously we only used bottled water and we took our own beer kegs⦠cleaning them out ourselves each day with bottled water.
âAnother major issue was [that] nowhere in the hotel [had] any hand sanitizer stations, especially at the entrance to the restaurants. Very odd for a 5 star hotel.
âAnother concern with the restaurants [was that] no food was ever covered and [I] never saw any temperature checksâ.
Furthermore, unnervingly it would seem that more holidaymakers have also succumbed to illness whilst staying at the Riu Palace Macao. Another recent guest of the TUI promoted resort revealed:
âThe down side was after 2 days in the hotel I developed a bad tummy bug.
â[This] plagued me on and off [for] the whole 2 weeks. We also heard off other visitors being ill with the same ailment.
âI have been home now [for] almost 1 week and [Im] still suffering, so a doctors appointment [will be needed] tomorrow once they open upâ.
Our expert opinion
âIt is obviously disappointing to read of hard-earned holidays that have been ruined by illness at the Riu Palace Macao.
âOur experts first raised concerns regarding hygiene standards at the resort in June 2016. Also at that time, guests believed that undercooked and cold food was responsible for their suffering.
âHere at YourHolidayClaims our dedicated holiday helpline remains open, offering tailored legal advice and support to anyone who has been unfortunate enough to fall ill on a package holiday within the last three years.
âContact our team to find out whether or not we can help youâ.
