Illness outbreak plagues guests at the ClubHotel RIU Bachata
Recently returned ClubHotel RIU Bachata guests have expressed concern regarding hygiene standards at the five-star ClubHotel RIU Bachata.
Just this week our experts heard from a couple who claim to have suffered from diarrhoea, vomiting and tonsillitis during their June 2016 stay. The couple also report that they are currently being tested for a suspected Zika infection.
Other afflicted guests have taken to review site TripAdvisor warning other holidaymakers to pack “anti-diarrhoea medication” after their Dominican Republic holidays were allegedly ruined by illness.
“My husband and I were both ill most of the time we were there,” writes one June 2016 guest.
“The food was neither good or kept from being contaminated, as nothing was covered to prevent that! There were constant flies over everything, birds flying in, and around the restaurant all day and through the evening.
“A cockroach was actually found in the food one mealtime? We and other guests witnessed two rats around the pool … another one was witnessed on the veranda at the buffet restaurant.”
Alarmingly, the stricken holidaymaker claims that “most of the other guests we’d spoken to had been poorly.”
Another recent hotel visitor labels their stay at ClubHotel RIU Bachata the “worst experience ever” adding that they were “disgusted” with the food which consisted of “raw hot dogs and half-cooked hamburgers.”
