A British lady whose holiday was ruined after suffering days of illness thought to be linked with the poor food and hygiene standards in the Reef Oasis Blue Bay Resort and Spa hotel in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, has turned to us for help to pursue a claim for compensation.
In July, August, September and October 2010, many holidaymakers allegedly contracted bacterial infections after dining at the Reef Oasis, including Salmonella, Shigella Dysentery and Giardia. Earlier this year in June and July, we also became aware of an outbreak of gastric illness reported at this hotel.
A group from Liverpool who became ill whilst on holiday at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay hotel said:
“We (group of 4) got the runs and so did every single other guest we spoke to. People were suffering from diarrhoea, bad stomach cramps or vomiting.
“Without fail, every single guest we spoke to had it at some point, one guest from Leeds even had to go on a drip, in her room and the hotel Doctor had to attend”.
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims said: “Anyone who has contracted an illness during their stay at this hotel should seek medical attention straight away and contact us on their return to seek compensation.
“We have successfully recovered compensation for holidaymakers who have contracted illness at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay hotel in previous years, including compensation for any medical and travel expenses too.
“Many tour operators are known to offer people holiday vouchers by way of an apology in these type of circumstances but I would urge anyone who has had their holiday ruined due to illness to contact myself and the team to pursue a claim because they will receive substantially more”.
