British holidaymakers are reporting falling ill at the Club Omar Khayam in Tunisia.
Many have reported witnessing poor hygiene and cleanliness standards at the hotel, with undercooked food often being served.
The Club Omar Khayam is a three star hotel, promoted by tour operators including Thomson. Visitors to the hotel have commented on TripAdvisor after their holidays were ruined by illness.
One holidaymaker from Crewe said: âI have complained to Thomson and they have agreed it is slightly under performing. I say it is more than underperforming, I had food poisoning and it was horrible.â
Others have reported being served undercooked chicken which was âred raw insideâ. They added that âstray cats were actually in the back of the kitchen on unitsâ.
Tracy Stansfield, an experienced holiday claims solicitor at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âWe are concerned by the reports of illness at the Club Omar Khayam.â
âIt is apparent from the reports that visitors to the hotel have found the food hygiene standards to be below what they expected. Where food is served undercooked or lukewarm, holidaymakers are at risk of contracting food poisoning.â
âI trust that the tour operators and hotel management will investigate the current food and hygiene standards at the hotel in order to address and rectify any failings.â
âI would urge anyone who has fallen ill on holiday at the Club Omar Khayam to contact myself or a member of our holiday claims team for advice on how we can help you.â
