Playa Costa Verde resort subject to salmonella outbreak

The Playa costa Verde is a luxury resort that is promoted by Thomas Cook. The resort is set in the popular area of Playa Pesquero and promises guests a range of dining and leisure options.

However, recent holidaymakers have reported their stays were ruined by illness and claimed the standard of the four star resort is âthree star at bestâ.

One holidaymaker who visited the resort in September 2015 reported on TripAdvisor:

âWe returned from Playa Costa Verde last Tuesday but my husband never made it home.

âHe was admitted straight to hospital only to be confirmed with salmonella food poisoning.

âHe started with diarrhoea and vomiting on the Sunday but we were unable to report to the rep as it was his day off.

âI have forwarded the hospital report to Playa Costa Verde who have not even had the courtesy to contact us to see how my husband is”.

Another disgruntled guest added:

âTwo weeks in this hotel and it made me feel like I never want another holidayâ.

âSymptoms of salmonella can not only ruin a holiday but can last for several days after a holidaymaker has returned home.

âI would hope that the tour operator will be thorough in investigating these claims to ensure that further holidaymakers are not affectedâ.
