Sickness strikes for third successive year at Dreams Riviera Cancun
- Guests hospitalised with suspected food poisoning
- Holidaymaker claims âwe had around 25 people get sickâ
- This is now the third successive year illness has been reported at the resort
YourHolidayClaims are currently receiving an increasing number of enquiries regarding illness at the five-star Dreams Riviera Cancun.
Other hotel guests have commented on the review website TripAdvisor after contracting âfood poisoningâ and receiving hospital treatment during their stay.
One holidaymaker even advised:
âDont stay here in a group ⦠we had around 25 people get sick.
âNot just a little stomach ache, but sitting on the toilet and throwing up in a trash can at the same time because its coming out of both ends sick. Many people were miserable for several days afterâ.
Our Head of Travel Laws comments
âI am very concerned to read the comments on TripAdvisor regarding outbreaks of food poisoning at the Dreams Riviera Cancun.
What really worries me is the fact that I am already dealing with cases of salmonella food poisoning contracted by holidaymakers who stayed at this hotel in 2013 â these further reports tend to suggest that something is going wrong at the hotel.
âFood poisoning often causes gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the stomach or bowels resulting in symptoms of sickness, diarrhoea, and stomach cramps. When food is undercooked or poorly prepared, this can place holidaymakers at risk of suffering illness.
âI hope that the tour operators and hotel management will investigate the reports of illness in order to identify the cause of infectionâ.
