A party of eight holidaymakers have contacted Your Holiday Claims after falling ill at the Sea Club Aqua Park in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
Many other British holidaymakers have taken to TripAdvisor to report illness at the Sea Club Aqua Park. The illnesses suffered are thought to be the result of the poor food and hygiene standards within the hotel.
One hotel guest took the decision to move hotels after spending just two nights at the hotel, describing their short stay as a ânightmareâ.
They said: âWe were booked in here for a ten day holiday and stayed two nights and paid £600 to move.
âWe arrived at 6pm to be greeted by a distressed woman at reception waiting for a taxi to take her family to another hotel. Her little boy had been vomiting constantly for five days and on the sixth day, a doctor put him on a drip. Her husband then started with it along with her other child, she said I will let you draw your own conclusions.
âWe got settled and went down for the evening meal which was inedible. Nothing was hot, all lukewarm. On looking closer in the restaurant in daylight, behind the food stations were absolutely filthy.
âWe were not prepared to spend our precious holiday worrying about being ill, so we moved.â
Another visitor to the hotel stated that all of their family members suffered stomach issues during their stay at the Sea Club Aqua Park.
The holidaymaker from London stated: âThe food is poor, the entire family suffered from upset stomachs.
âThis was our fourth trip to Egypt, third to Sharm, but the only time we have experienced upset stomachs.
âThe standard of cleanliness is poor and that could explain the upset stomachs as well.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âAfter receiving an enquiry due to a group of eight falling ill, we are concerned to read further reports online of illness at the Sea Club Aqua Park.
âWhere food and hygiene standards are poor, there is a serious risk of holidaymakers suffering illness. Under the Package Travel Regulations 1992 a holidaymaker may be able to bring a claim against their tour operator within the UK after suffering a holiday illness abroad.
âWe would urge anyone who has fallen ill at the Sea Club Aqua Park to contact us as soon as possible to discuss the merits of their claim.â
