YourHolidayClaims’ travel law team are currently helping a British family of 4 receive justice for their stay at the IBEROSTAR Ensenachos in Cuba, after gastric illness devastated their highly anticipated holiday.

As a result of their ordeal, one of these family members has taken to hotel reviewing website TripAdvisor to vent their anger.

The disappointed U.K holidaymaker referred to the hygiene standards at the Caribbean complex as “dire”, before claiming:

“If you can find a clean table you are lucky, there are flies and cockroaches all over the food and this is inside the main buffet. Cross contamination is normal with utensils used for the raw and then cooked meats.

“The pool bar has flies and lots of birds flying onto the tables and landing on the food, vomit on the floor and left for some time. The staff are useless and make no attempt to maintain standards and keep the birds away.

“All 4 of us were ill at some stage of the stay with sickness, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea, headaches and so on, our one son lost just over a stone in weight!!

“This isn’t down to the heat or excessive drinking but due to the appalling hygiene standards”.

In addition to this, another recent holidaymaker also took to TripAdvisor claiming to have encountered similar problems, as they disclosed:

“Was here for 14 nights, on our second night my husband and I took sick, what we thought was a little deli belly.

“Slept for 24 hours in the room, I collapsed on the way to the restaurant and had to be returned to the room, the hotel did organize fresh fruit as room service.

“3 days later both still sick, time to see the doctor on site, she was really nice and gave us tablets to reduce the grinding stomach ache and what not… now 14 days later, we are home and still really unwell, seeking medical advice again from our own doctor. (Silver lining, lost half a stone in weight) still not good!

“This was our third time to Cuba and unfortunately our last which is a shame”.
