We reported on the Playa Pesquero in Cuba just over a month ago and are now horrified to hear that things do not appear to have got any better.
Many holidaymakers have turned to our team of experienced holiday illness experts for help to claim compensation after their well-earned holidays were ruined by poor food and hygiene standards causing gastric illness.
A lady from Portsmouth who returned to the UK just two weeks ago described the hotel as the âworst resort everâ. Despite reading negative reviews on TripAdvisor, she took a leap of faith and booked a two week relaxing holiday away to spend time with her family.
Commenting on TripAdvisor, the lady warned others about her experience at the Hotel Playa Pesquero and in her review stated: âThe concrete tiles around the swimming pools are crumbling, only the surround of the floor tiles of the pools are non-slip, the rest are very slippery.
âI slipped on the second day on less than 60cm of water (I ended up with sore and badly bruised toes for a few days) and the tiles are also uneven.
âThe pool was not cleaned every day and the result is a dark tide mark on the side of the pool.
âIn the two weeks we were there, the pool might have been cleaned 5 times and I am responsible for one of them after I slipped on some faeces.
âI know that might not be helped if a guest childs had an accident but that was first thing in the morning and you would have assumed the pool had just been cleaned.
âOnce I had reported this to the towel place, everyone went into a frenzy and cleaned the pool for about 90 minutes.
âOnce we were told it was ok, we went back and I still found some lumps which I removed with a plastic cup.
âWe also shared the pool with crabs, hence after we reassured my three year old who had seen the crab the day before that it was safe to go into the pool, we came across another one.â
Many other holidaymakers during the same period were also reported to have suffered stomach upsets, believed again to be caused by food poisoning.
âAs there were less guests, a few of the restaurants were closed, which is understandable. The amount of food on display in the buffet area was astronomical and a lot of it left untouched.
âI presume people did not want it after birds had been pecking at it, from what I saw over 2 weeks.
âA lot of people were still being sick with food poisoning.
âUnderstandably, the cooking is different and you can accept an upset stomach at some point during your holiday but not for 36 hours sickness and requiring injections from the Doctorâ the lady added.
Commenting on the recent complaints made against the Playa Pesquero Hotel, Tracy Stansfield, an experienced holiday illness solicitor, said: âThe conditions that the holidaymakers had to endure appear to absolutely appalling.
âIt may well be that the reported poor food and hygiene standards have led to the outbreaks of illness and until these issues are dealt with, the problems will remain.
âI would urge anyone that has had their holiday ruined due to illness whilst on holiday at Playa Pesquero to contact us for help to claim compensation.â
