British holidaymakers have reported outbreaks of illness which have ruined holidays at the Marconfort Beach Club Hotel in Spain.
Visitors to the hotel have continued to contact Your Holiday Claims after experiencing symptoms including sickness and diarrhoea during their stays.
One angered guest said: âWe were excited until the week before upon reading all the sickness cases on TripAdvisor. I was so worried that I decided to eat very cautiously as I have a condition that if I get food poisoning my body attacks itself and I am very ill.
âOn my 6th day I started getting stomach cramps and then it beganâ¦â She added that reports of sickness and stomach cramps were circulating all over the resort and on her return to the UK it was confirmed she was diagnosed with âsalmonella poisoning i.e. food poisoning.â
Another disgruntled holidaymaker said: âIt is such a shame that this bug has been going on for some time. I think the hotel management really need to look closely at the amount of cases reported and perhaps get in the proper health people to help find the cause and rectify this before it causes more problems.â
One guest claimed: âOther guests told us that there had been a bug circulating for a number of weeks, tons of people we saw were ill including 2 of my party.
âHad I known about the bug I would have tried to get another hotel, I only managed to have a 2 day break instead of 4.â
Our Head of Travel Law, Anne Thomson, commented on the reports: âThere have been many holidaymakers reporting undercooked or lukewarm food being served at this resort.
âWhen food is served undercooked or lukewarm bacteria may not be killed off and this can lead to gastric illnesses with symptoms including sickness and diarrhoea. Not only can this ruin a holiday, it can be an extremely distressing experience, especially when medical treatment is required.
