The Grand Hotel is a five star all-inclusive hotel located in Sharm el Sheikh. The hotel boasts eight swimming pools, three buffet restaurants, five a la carte restaurants and daytime activities.
Guests who have recently stayed at the hotel have complained about falling ill with a âbug.â
Hygiene at the hotel has been questioned. Guests have commented âthe main hotel grounds and pools are very good, well maintained and better than Id expected, but thats where it all starts to go downhill.â
Holidaymakers have said that on first impressions the hotel looked âlovelyâ however on the 3rd day one guest found that their duvet had bloodstains on it.
Guests have commented on the ânot so Grand hotelâ stating that they were disgusted that a âfive star hotel would have such poor hygiene standards.â They have noted that plates were not washed properly and there was âdry food stuck to them.â Glasses were also not cleaned thoroughly.
One couple said that the main restaurant resembled a âcattle marketâ and the food served was the âworst foodâ they had ever seen.
Another couple said that they refused to eat at the buffet restaurant and paid extra to eat in the a la carte.
Both couples have reported contracting illness at this hotel. One of the couples said âwe caught a bug and was sick for several days.â
Another said âwe were all ill. My wife collapsed from what we believe was undercooked food.â
âShe was so ill we needed the doctor and several injections, almost hospitalising her.â
When visiting the doctor, they were told that this was ânormalâ for the area.
They have said that the number of people who fell ill with stomach related issues at this hotel was âworryingâ and âone of the tour guides commented on the disproportionate levels of sickness here compared to others.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims remarked: âFoodborne illnesses may occur when holidaymakers consume contaminated food or food that has been left out for long periods of time.â
âStrict international hygiene measures need to be in place to prevent the risk of a potential outbreak.â
âI would urge anyone who has suffered symptoms of illness at The Grand Hotel in Sharm el Sheikh to contact Your Holiday Claims for advice on how to make a claim for compensation.â
