Have you contracted campylobacter on holiday abroad in the past 3 years?
If your campylobacter infection was contracted as a result of you consuming contaminated food or drink provided by your holiday hotel, you should be able to claim compensation from your tour company.
The Package Travel Regulations 1992 allow you to claim compensation from your tour operator if you have contracted campylobacter (or other similar infection) whilst on holiday abroad.
At Your Holiday Claims, we have successfully obtained thousands of pounds in compensation for British holidaymakers who have had holidays ruined due to this type of holiday illness.
What is campylobacter?
Campylobacter is a common cause of food poisoning.
Food poisoning usually occurs when food or drink are contaminated with bacteria, viruses or parasites.
Undercooked food and cross contamination are some of the most common causes of campylobacter outbreaks, especially in hotels abroad and in all-inclusive holiday destinations where poor hygiene practices exist.
What are the symptoms of campylobacter?
Typically, campylobater food poisoning causes gastric illness which can lead to symptoms of diarrhoea, fever, and vomiting. In severe cases, especially if symptoms are not treated quickly, severe dehydration can occur. This may lead to hospitalisation.
What should I do if I suffer these symptoms?
Seek treatment from a doctor in resort and from your own GP on return to the UK.
