Hygiene failings reported at Xperience Sea Breeze, Sharm El Sheikh

Poor hygiene, ‘sour’ tasting food and faulty facilities are just few of the complaints being reported at Xperience Sea Breeze in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Tour operator, Thomas Cook features the Xperience as an adult-only hotel with 24 hour room-service, providing holidaymakers with 6 bars and 2 separate restaurants, including á la carte and buffet, and featuring five swimming pools.

One guest reported their room was poorly maintained, “The room clearly hadn’t had a deep clean in some time, the bathroom floor was stained and the toilet brush was vile.”

She continued “The handle on our sliding door was badly broken and the lock didn’t work properly.”

Another guest stated their dismay at the Resort, “It’s hideous, do not stay here.” He continued, “We came home more stressed and tired than when we left”.

Xperience Sea Breeze also received culinary criticism via reports claiming “food was bland and out of date.” “My partner’s steak tasted sour and my fish was tasteless, resembling pre-frozen fillet with fake grill marks on it.”

Head of Travel Law, Anne Thomson commented on the reports: “It’s saddening to hear of holidaymakers reporting poor standards at Xperience Sea Breeze.

“In 2013 we were contacted by holidaymakers who had stayed at this hotel in December 2012 and the entire family had fallen ill due to, it was strongly suspected, poor food and hygiene standards.

“Food and hygiene standards must be maintained otherwise there is the threat of illness to residents once again.  I hope that Thomas Cook and the hotel management take full and proper note of the problems being described.”
