Norovirus wreaks havoc on the Queen Mary 2
- Holidaymaker reports being confined to their cabin for days of the cruise due to symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting
- Online comments suggest hundreds have been affected by the norovirus outbreak
- Queen Mary 2 refused entry to Jordan and Oman due to the illness outbreak
British holidaymakers have contacted YourHolidayClaims seeking compensation after a suspected norovirus outbreak ruined their stay on the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship.
Holidaymakers have reported suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting which left them unable to leave their cabin for a number of days due to the severity of the illness.
Writing on Cruise Critic, one guest painted an alarming picture of the spread of the illness. She commented:
âWe learnt within the first 24 hours that the ship had cases of norovirus.
âBy the 22nd of April there were 70 cases of norovirus and the port authorities in Salalah Oman would not let us dock.
âBy the 26th of April the number of cases had risen to 200, according to some staff.â
Another guest raised serious concerns that Cunard simply âfailed to control the norovirus.â âIf one person in a double occupied cabin was showing symptoms, they were confined but the other person was allowed to roam the ship at will, infecting anyone and everyone!â they wrote.
Comments from a cruise ship illness claim specialist
Tracy Stansfield, cruise ship illness specialist at YourHolidayClaims commented: âIt is distressing to hear reports of British holidaymakers stricken by illness on the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship.
âNorovirus is a very unpleasant illness. The symptoms of norovirus include diarrhoea, vomiting and nausea. These symptoms can completely ruin a cruise ship holiday as guests remain confined to their cabins to recover.
âI would urge anyone who has fallen ill on the Queen Mary 2 to contact YourHolidayClaims today and make a no win, no fee claim for compensation.
