An unfortunate British holidaymaker has contacted our specialist holiday claims team after âE. coliâ left them hospitalised for one week of their stay at The Grand Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh.
The holidaymaker reported the highly contagious bacterium E. coli, commonly symptomised by abdominal cramps and diarrhoea, ruined their holiday and left them in need of hospital treatment.
Other guests have also headed to TripAdvisor to give their feedback on the ânot so Grandâ hotel, one holidaymaker commented: âThe accommodation was simply shocking.
âAfter a long journey we checked into our room to find water leaking through the bathroom ceiling and the bathroom, particularly the shower, had green mould on it.
âGenerally grubby and unsafe. Not the 5 star grading we were expecting.â
Another unhappy guest reported they suffered a âserious bugâ at the resort which left them in need of medical attention and unable to hold down food for several days of their stay.
Now home in the UK, they added: âFood is still going straight through me. I have sent samples off and I’m currently on antibiotics.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âWe heard from holidaymakers who suffered illness at this resort in the summer of 2014 so it is very disappointing to hear reports that further stays have been ruined.
âI would strongly encourage anyone affected by illness at The Grand Hotel to seek expert legal advice as they may be eligible to pursue a claim for holiday illness compensation.â
