Holiday “hell” at Club Mac Alcudia
Your Holiday Claims have recently been contacted by a British holidaymaker who has informed us of an outbreak of illness at the Club MAC Alcudia in Majorca, Spain.
They have reported that of their family of four, three have fallen ill at the resort. They have suffered symptoms including sickness, stomach cramps and diarrhoea which have resulted in one family member requiring hospital treatment.
They have spoken to dozens of other holidaymakers whose children also suffered from sickness bugs during their stay.
The Club MAC Alcudia is promoted by tour operators First Choice and Thomas Cook amongst others. The resort consists of three hotels all located within the same complex.
There are also reports on TripAdvisor describing children being sick at the hotel.
A British holidaymaker from Letchworth commented: âBoth our usually healthy and strong in constitution kids were very sick. This wiped out four days of our break and ruined our holiday.
âIt seemed that most people that you spoke to had sickness in their family. Kids were puking in public areas. This appears to be an issue with the hotel and needs to be addressed immediately.
âThe food was mostly appalling. Generally the quality, variety, and imagination of all the food was poor. We had stayed in similar all-inclusive 3 star places and this was very, very inferior in comparison.â
Many others have commented on the quality of food served at the Club MAC Alcudia. A hotel guest from Birmingham stated: âThe restaurants were always busy with long queues at meal times. After eventually being seated we found the food was cold or not even cooked through properly.
âThe only time we had hot decent food was when we went outside of the complex.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âThe enquiry that we have received raises some serious concerns regarding the Club MAC Alcudia. We have been informed that numerous holidaymakers, especially children, Â have suffered illness at the resort.
âAny illness requiring hospital treatment can obviously ruin a holiday. If hot food is served cold, lukewarm or undercooked, bacteria can quickly multiply and cases of food poisoning can occur. If poor food preparation or handling practices or indeed hygiene standards generally are the cause of the outbreak of illness, holidaymakers are entitled to claim compensation from their tour operator.
âI would urge anyone who has fallen ill on holiday at this resort to contact Your Holiday Claims as soon as possible to see if you are eligible to make a claim for food poisoning at Club Mac Alcudia.â
