Illness brings misery to Bavaro Princess
Visitors to the First Choice promoted Bavaro Princess hotel have criticised the standards of food hygiene after they were affected by sickness bugs. Many have commented on TripAdvisor, questioning the “unsafe food handling practices” at the five-star resort.
“The food is the bad,” comments one recent guest.
“I did not see a single person the entire week wear gloves. There is constant cross contamination going on. They use the same utensils on the raw meat as the cooked.
“I ate the rice and seafood by the beach and had food poisoning within 4 hours.
“I talked to multiple guests on our shuttle that got food poisoning from that. The majority of the food truly just doesn’t even taste good or edible.”
One hotel visitor who had travelled to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon reported falling ill for the majority of their holiday. They commented: “I fell sick on the third day and was sick until we left.
“I spoke with a lot of other people who also got very sick. The only thing I could stomach eating was bread.”
Your Holiday Claims have previously successfully settled compensation claims for holidaymakers struck by illness in the Dominican Republic. In one of our more recent successes, our head of travel law, Anne Thomson, helped a husband and wife from Darlington recover £3,270 after their Dominican Republic anniversary getaway was ruined by gastric illness.
Commenting on the reports of illness at the Bavaro Princess, Anne said: “I find the reports of sickness particularly worrying.
“When proper food hygiene practices are not followed, there is a risk of holidaymakers being exposed to illness caused by bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli, and campylobacter.
“Here at Your Holiday Claims we have represented holidaymakers across the UK who have been affected by symptoms of food poisoning. If anyone has experienced symptoms including sickness, diarrhoea and stomach cramps at this hotel, I would urge them to contact myself or a member of our expert claims team as soon as possible.”
