Here at Your Holiday Claims we have been reading reports of illness at the Medina Gardens in Morocco, with guests describing the food served as âpoor qualityâ and âcold or warm but certainly not hotâ.
Guests have recently taken to TripAdvisor to review the Thomson promoted hotel with several complaining of illness during their stay.
One holidaymaker said: âWe both got very sick on our second nightâ¦it spoiled the rest of our holiday really because we were so paranoid about getting that sick again and couldnt properly relax. Such a shameâ.
Another couple also suffered illness whilst staying at the resort earlier in the year. They said: âBy the seventh day there, my partner got a sickness bug and was bound to the room, resulting in us having to cancel one of our trips.
âOn our last night, we stayed until the end of the entertainment and went with a few friends we had made to the casino on site, which was wonderful. Unfortunately, I started to feel unwell, so went back to the room. I had to endure this sickness bug for a total of 5 days, including the travel home.
I am still not sure what caused it but would recommend others to take caution out in Moroccoâ.
A lady from Worthing commented on the food hygiene standards at the hotel, she said: âThere are small birds flying around the restaurant and we (as did many guests) raised the issue of health and safety as it was obvious that droppings from these birds could easily fall onto the food in the buffet areas which are uncovered.
âNeedless to say my partner developed food poisoning and we are absolutely sure this was from the hotel food as we ate nowhere else. Several other guests told us they had suffered from bad bellies during this week alsoâ.
Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, Anne Thomson, said: âIt is extremely worrying to read reports from multiple guests about illness at the Medina Gardens and even more so when we hear that they have witnessed poor standards of hygiene at the resort.
âI would strongly urge anyone who has had their holiday ruined by illness at this resort or whilst on holiday abroad to get in touch with us as soon as possible to discuss whether we could help them make a claim for compensationâ.
