British holidaymakers have reported falling ill during their stays at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay Resort in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
Many have commented on TripAdvisor after their winter breaks to the Egyptian hotel were ruined.
One hotel guest described a âlack of hygieneâ within restaurants at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay Resort.
Stays at the Thomson and First Choice promoted hotel have been described as a âhorrible experienceâ. Guests spoke of arriving at a hotel which appeared âshabby, âdatedâ, âunkemptâ and âdirtyâ.
Another visitor to the hotel reported that they were affected by illness for the majority of their stay. They commented: âFrom day 2 of our 11 night holiday both myself and my wife had very bad diarrhoea.â
âWe ended up having to get antibiotics from the pharmacist after other remedies failed to work.â
Anne Thomson, Head of Travel Law at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âThe reports of illness at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay Resort are worrying.â
âIt is vital that all hotels ensure that high standards of food and hygiene are maintained in order to prevent such outbreaks of illness.â
âNot only can an illness on holiday be a particularly distressing experience, it may also result in holidaymakers having to pay medical expenses. These can be expensive and may place a strain on finances.â
“We have already helped several British holidaymakers receive thousands in successful no win no fee claims following illness at this resort, including West Yorkshire couple Mr and Mrs Dawson who received £6,200 in total damages.
âI would encourage anyone who has been affected by illness at this hotel to contact myself or a member of our holiday illness claims team to see if you too are entitled to compensation. We can help you recover amounts to reflect the illness you have suffered, any lost days of your holiday and any out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of the illness.â
