British holidaymakers have reported falling ill on holiday at the Jaz Mirabel Park in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
Visitors have experienced unclean and dirty hotel rooms, commenting on their stay through the hotel review website TripAdvisor. This has included ants infesting hotel rooms and some suffering from gastric illness.
A holidaymaker from Ipswich commented: âHow this hotel can continue to operate amazes me. From the moment we arrived it was so wrong.
âThe rooms were all very dirty. The floors and some furniture hadnt been cleaned for weeks. The beds were hard and on closer inspection some of the sheets were dirty, badly marked and the mattress were stained badly.
âThe bathrooms were grubby and falling to pieces. One room had a sewage smell and when we questioned it, they said they would spray the room to cover up the smell. There was no talk of actually resolving the smell issue.â
Others who have stayed at the hotel have had their holidays ruined after ants infested their room.
One visitor said: âWe returned to our rooms to find it overrun with ants, which we found upsetting as they were all over our babys bottles and juice bottle. A few hours later the ants had infested my babys formula milk box, meaning we had no way of feeding her.
âWe went to reception but this time we were distressed, worried, and upset. I can honestly say that there is no feeling like not being able to feed your child and feeling stranded where nobody can help you through their poor communication skills.â
Holidaymakers who have fallen ill at the hotel have also reported poor standards of cleanliness within the hotel, with many drinks containers being re-used.
A hotel guest said: âDrinks at the pool and beach were always warm. Beer was poured from cans into plastic cups that were literally rinsed under taps and refilled. Soft drinks were poured from 2 litre bottles, always warm with no ice
âMy partner and I both became very ill with flu type symptoms, tummy cramps and severe diarrhoea. We spent two days in bed and Imodium didnt touch it.â
Symptoms including stomach cramps and diarrhoea can often be the result of gastroenteritis. Within all inclusive hotels, this is most commonly caused by food poisoning.
Tracy Stansfield, an experienced solicitor at Your Holiday Claims, commented: âMany of the reports we have read online relating to the Jaz Mirabel Park have stated that cleanliness has been poor.
âAs we previously reported on illness outbreaks at the Jaz Mirabel Park in September 2013, we are concerned that British holidaymakers still appear to experiencing problems within the hotel. It is important for holidaymakers to feel that their health and safety is the primary concern of the hotel, especially those with small children.
